SARASOTA, FL Nancy Nelson Burgess passed away on July 6, 2009 in Sarasota, FL after a determined and lengthy struggle. She leaves her endlessly dedicated and loving husband of fifty-five years, Robert Burgess, her daughter and husband, Katie and Doug Lail, her son and wife, Bill and Barbara Burgess, her sister, Elizabeth Henneberger and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she enjoyed the company and love of six grandchildren - Jeff Lail, Drew, Christopher and Peter Burgess, and Emily and Willie Mead. Nancy will be remembered by her family and many friends as an inveterate global traveler, a fantastic needle pointer, an avid socializer and bridge player and a caring and loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother.

Nancy was born in Atlantic City, NJ on September 19, 1933 to Elizabeth and Stephen Nelson. She grew up in Chambersburg, PA where she graduated from Penn Hall Preparatory School and matriculated to Denison University. It was at Denison that the attractive Nancy was courted by Rob, eventually leaving college early to marry him and move to the Philippines as an Army bride in 1954. Later...
