'What should I be looking for in the new plant catalogs?''

Expect to see many, many new plant and seed introductions in all categories. Why? It is because new offerings are always big sellers. Are they always better than existing types? Not necessarily, for a variety of reasons including that the "new introductions'' are not always "new.'' They may be new only to that specific company but not new to the trade.

Some new introductions may be vast improvements over existing types. Look for new colors, new flower forms and new size plants

There is considerable interest in plants, including shrubs, that will fit better in the yards of today's homes. Dwarf fruiting blueberry bushes, apple trees in containers and even grape vines are being offered to homeowners that have limited space for gardening.
