$100K bail for ex-con charged with child rape; Man allegedly assaulted girl for years.

WORCESTER -- A 43-year-old Worcester man charged with seven counts of child rape aggravated by age difference was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail at his arraignment Tuesday in Central District Court.

Nicholas Rivera of 16 Reservoir St., Apt. 1, is charged with seven counts of child rape aggravated by age difference, and single counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, dissemination of matter harmful to minors, and witness intimidation. He is alleged to have sexually assaulted a girl over a period of more than four years, beginning on or about April 24, 2009, when she was 11 years old.

Mr. Rivera is also accused of showing the girl pornographic movies, and of telling her in July 2013 that there would be "trouble'' if she spoke to authorities, according to a statement of facts filed in court by Police Officer Donna M. Brissette.

Not-guilty pleas were entered by the court on Mr. Rivera's behalf. Judge Robert J. Pellegrini set $100,000 cash bail without prejudice and continued the case to Feb. 13.
