Cities need stuff like stART on the Street.

The large festival of artists, crafters, street performers, information booths and food vendors celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. It has a quirky name and a colorful presence, and has caught on with area residents in a big way.

Today's festival goes from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Park Avenue in Worcester, between Pleasant and Highland streets. It's free, family-friendly, and provides a fun opportunity to just stroll along the street and see what you see. There will be handmade items of every description for purchase, hands-on kids' activities, three stages for music and various performances dotting the way. A Youth Market will showcase items made by kids 18 and younger.
