BASEBALL

Doherty 6, Wachusett 5: Gio Pasquale went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI, leading the second-ranked Highlanders (4-0) at Foley Stadium.

Kyle Lamoureux also went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and starter Tyler Sterner struck out 10.

Connor McDavitt was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, and Steve Trychon and B.J. Foley each added two hits for the top-ranked Mountaineers (2-2).

Clinton 3, Maynard 0: Senior right-hander Cody Trautner allowed only a first-inning single to junior Mike Marshall, walked three and struck out nine, and scored the visiting Gaels' first run on a third-inning hit by senior catcher Brendan Cutler.

The bad news for Clinton (2-1) is that Trautner (2-0) will be lost for five games when he leaves today on a 10-day school trip to Spain.

Sophomore shortstop Matt Notaro went 3 for 4 with two singles, an RBI and a run. Joe Rice went 2 for 3 with a walk.

Marlboro 13, Burncoat 5: Kyle Thebado had a home run and three RBIs for the host Panthers (1-1).

Dennis Duplessis had two doubles and two RBIs, and Matt Buroni added a double and two RBIs for Marlboro.

Sean McGrail had three hits and an RBI, and Charles Barbon had a double and two RBIs for the Patriots (1-3).

Milford 9, Hudson 8: Chris Manguso's walk-off, two-run single with one out in the seventh inning lifted the seventh-ranked Scarlet Hawks (3-0).

Matt Gerard, J.J. Branch and Steve Morganelli also singled in the five-run rally in the seventh for Milford.

Josh King went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Hudson (1-2).

Tahanto 9, North 1: Jay Belinskas hurled a three-hitter and struck out 14 for the host Stags (3-0).

Ryan Belinskas had a single and a double, and Nate DiTomasso added two hits and two RBIs for Tahanto.

The Polar Bears are 0-2.

Westboro 7, Holy Name 1: Matt Shunney had a double and had three RBIs for the fifth-ranked Rangers (2-0).

Andrew Grant had two hits and also struck out 10 for visiting Westboro. Anthony Cozza had a single and double for the sixth-ranked Naps (1-2).

Worcester Tech 17, Nashoba Tech 0: Junior Joe Lundberg had a single, double, triple and two RBIs to lead the Eagles (2-0, 1-0 Colonial Athletic League) over the Vikings (0-2, 0-1) in Westford.

Senior Mike Mastrototaro also had three hits and two RBIs, and senior John Boyd had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

SOFTBALL

Fitchburg 25, North 1: Chelsea Deloge had five hits in the Red Raiders' five-inning, mercy-rule victory over the visiting Polar Bears, who were playing their season opener.
