$500,000 pledge for Anna Maria center; Fuller Foundation to help meet need.

PAXTON - The George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation has pledged $500,000 for the expansion and renovation of the Fuller Activities Center at Anna Maria College, college President Jack P. Calareso has announced.

The improvements to the activities center will be part of a $5 million campus-wide construction and renovation project that addresses increased enrollment and growth of the college.

"We are extremely gratified by the continued confidence shown in the college by the George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation," Mr. Calareso said in a press release. "The college's relationship with the foundation goes back over many years' time."

Since its opening in 1986, the activities center has served both the college and the community. Major events such as the college's matriculation ceremony, special lectures, and the annual alumni arts and crafts fair are held there, as are all home basketball and volleyball games. Community events held there have included the state Department of Social Services' annual adoption party.
