Alfreda T. (Chludzinski) Kwiatkowski, 90Worcester - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Alfreda T. Kwiatkowski on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Notre Dame Long Term Care. Alfreda was born on March 6, 1924 in Worcester, Massachusetts, daughter of Felix and Jadwiga Chludzinski. She graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School, Commerce High School and Felt & Tarrant Comptometer Business School. She loved to tell the story of how she worked in the office of the former Reed & Prince where she made 35 cents an hour and then got a raise to 37 cents. She loved Polish polkas and speaking Polish. She was proud of her Polish heritage. She met her husband, Mitchell J. Kwiatkowski, at a Polish dance and they married two years later in 1948. They spent 53 happy love-filled years together. They were always together gallivanting. They vacationed through the New England states, New York, Washington, Pennsylvania and Canada. They visited Florida, cruised to St. Thomas, Curacao and some of the other Virgin Islands. By far their favorite trip was to the Islands of Hawaii. When her children were born, she became a stay-at-home mom. When they were older she worked as a Kelly Girl at different offices. In 1968 she began working in the Accounting Department of Melville Shoe Corporation where she made many close friends that she continued to see frequently for lunch even many years after retirement. She always spoke of her happy days at Thom Mc An. She remained in her own home until 2012. She then resided at Notre Dame Assisted Living and a year ago she moved to Notre Dame Long Term Care.Alfreda was a former member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Polish American Veterans and a member of the Czestochowa Guild of Polish Women.
