Bernard W. 'Bernie' McCarthy, 72.

AUBURN - Bernard W. "Bernie" McCarthy, Jr., 72, of Auburn, formerly of Worcester, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife of 37 years, Sheila L. (Lyons) McCarthy; a son, Peter B. McCarthy and his wife, Leah of Worcester; a daughter, Heather McCarthy Underhill and her husband, Graeme of New Hampshire; a brother, Francis "Frank" McCarthy of Worcester and one grandson, Tyler A. McCarthy.

Bernie was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Bernard, Sr. and Mary (Cafferty) McCarthy. He graduated from Saint John's High School and Saint John's Seminary in Connecticut.

He owned and operated Typon Inc. in Worcester for over 30 years, before he retired. Previously in his life he was a priest for the Diocese of Worcester.
