Brenda M. Sweeney, 91 Longtime Fitchburg Resident.

FITCHBURG Brenda M. (Belliveau) Sweeney, 91, a longtime Fitchburg resident, died Monday, July 11, 2011 in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband of 42 years, Martin B. Sweeney, died in 1988.

She leaves three sons, Kevin M. Sweeney Ph.D., of San Diego, CA, Mark J. Sweeney and his wife, Kristin, of Berlin, MA and Michael C. Sweeney of Hudson, MA; one daughter, Joan L. Sweeney Ph.D., of Gloucester, MA; and one grandson, Brent L. Sweeney of Berlin, MA; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by one brother, James V. Belliveau and one sister, Joan L. Garlick.

Mrs. Sweeney was a Supervisor for the New England Telephone Company in Fitchburg for many years.

She was a longtime member of St. Bernard's Parish in Fitchburg and was a 1937 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School. She was an Associate member of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and was a longtime volunteer at the Presentation Convent.
