I suppose one could call this good timing. Within a week after the Super Bowl, pitchers and catchers have reported and are working out for the Diamondbacks and Dodgers.

I suppose one could also call it odd timing. Those teams had their guys report up to 10 days before some teams required their players to show up. It's due to Arizona and L.A. starting the season in Sydney, Australia on March 22, a week before any other team plays a game that matters. To further prove the pointlessness of this move, MLB has those teams returning to the U.S. to play more spring training games before their regular-season schedule resumes.

Whatever label you want to give the timing, it is time to start my preview of the upcoming baseball season with a look at the catcher position.
