2 charged in home invasion; Milford family terrorized in attack.

MILFORD - Two men arrested over the weekend for allegedly terrorizing a family of four Tuesday night when they stormed into the home armed with a machete and an ax will be arraigned today on home invasion charges in Milford District Court.

Christopher Chicoine, 30, of 56 Forest St., Milford, and David Whaland, 29, of Lexington, were both charged with home invasion, attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed assault to rob, and assault and battery in connection with the home invasion at 9 Purchase St.

Police searched for both men and on Saturday a team of Boston and Milford police officers headed to an address in Jamaica Plain and found Mr. Chicoine.

Then Milford police, with the help of Worcester officers, began checking several Worcester locations, to no avail. Officers

headed to Lexington and saw the vehicle police said was used by the suspects at an address there.

Police then caught Mr. Whaland. Both men are being held on $10,000 cash bail.

The two men allegedly threatened to dismember family members inside the Purchase Street home if they did not hand over drugs and cash.

Police went to the home Tuesday night and found a 49-year-old man, his 36-year-old wife, and their 15- and 14-year-old children
