'Cheaper by the Dozen' auditions slated in Jan.

SOUTHBRIDGE -- Auditions for the family comedy "Cheaper by the Dozen'' will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 13 and 14 in the Gateway Barn, 111 Main St. A large cast of men, women and children are needed for this show, slated for April 4, 5, 11, 12 and 13.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. The large cast allows for a variety of novice and experienced actors.

There are roles for children and teens, age 7-14, as well as adults. The story is fun, funny, poignant and sweet. Mary Gahagan is directing, with Barbara Day producing.

Acting workshop signup

Carole Hayes will conduct a 10-week acting workshop at Gateway Players Theatre Inc., 111 Main St. focusing on character development and auditioning.

The group will meet weekly on Mondays starting in February and will conclude with a public performance in April. Registration fee is $20 for Gateway members, $25 for non-members. Space is limited, so register soon. This workshop is funded in part by the Southbridge Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
