Judge James R. Lemire

Jermain Sade, 20, of 48 Freeland St., Worcester, was sentenced to 2-1/2 years in the House of Correction, with 14 months to be served, after pleading guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. The balance of the sentence was suspended for 2 years with probation. He was placed on two concurrent terms of 2 years' probation after pleading guilty to assault and battery and unarmed robbery. As conditions of probation, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim, to maintain employment or education, not to possess knives, and to pay $90 victim witness fee, $65 probation fee. A charge of armed robbery (knife) was dismissed at the request of the commonwealth.

Carlos J. Torres, 24, of 191 Blossom St., Fitchburg, was charged with distribution of cocaine. The charge was nol prossed. A nol pros or nolle prosequi is a court filing reflecting a prosecutor's decision not to proceed with a criminal case after charges have been brought.

Felix Viera Sr., 35, of 248 Tacoma St., Worcester, was found not guilty by a jury on charges of rape and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over.

Norman A. Pisani III, 34, of 32 West St., Milford, charged with assault and battery and intimidation of a witness, dismissed without prejudice.

Thomas E. Depaolo Jr., 29, of 41 South Main St., Milford, charged with assault and battery, sentenced to 2-1/2 years in the House of Correction, with 250 days to be served, balance suspended for 2 years with probation, ordered to stay away and have no contact with the victims, to remain drug-and alcohol-free, and to submit to random drug tests; breaking and entering with intent to commit a misdemeanor, sentenced to 6 months in the House of Correction; two counts of assault and battery (bat) and vandalizing property, placed on probation for 2 years, $90 victim witness fee; and reckless endangerment of a child, dismissed.

Joseph Berube, 30, of 10 Jefferson St., Worcester, charged with larceny over $250, sentenced to 6 months in the House of Correction, with 60 days to be served, balance suspended for 1 year, ordered to remain drug- and alcohol-free, to submit to random drug tests, to stay on the same mental health treatment currently receiving, to complete 100 hours of community service, and to stay away from St. Vincent Hospital...
