Judge David Ricciardone

Mark Leaston, 26, of 119 Walnut St., Worcester, was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 6 months in the House of Correction after pleading guilty to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, amended from possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (subsequent offense) and drug violation near a school or park. He was ordered to pay $150 drug fee and a $90 victim witness fee. Charges of armed assault with intent to murder (firearm), carrying a firearm with ammunition, and firearm violation with one prior violent or drug crime were nol prossed. A nol pros or nolle prosequi is a court filing reflecting a prosecutor's decision not to proceed with a criminal case after charges have been brought.

Judge James R. Lemire

Daniel Crespo, 26, of 54 Shelby St., Worcester, was sentenced to 3 to 5 years in Walpole state prison after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. The sentence is to run forthwith and not withstanding any other sentences now being served. He was placed on probation for 18 months, to begin upon his release, after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm without a Firearm ID Card. The charge was amended from firearm violation with one prior violent or drug crime. As conditions of probation, he was ordered to remain drug and alcohol-free, to undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations with treatment and counseling as recommended by the Probation Department, to submit to random drug tests, and to pay a $65 monthly probation supervision fee. Charges of possession of child pornography and drug violation near a school or park were dismissed.

Adam J. Caravalho, 32, of 25 Manor Road, Auburn, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or .08 percent, found not guilty; marked lanes violation, found responsible, fined $100; and failing to yield at an intersection, found responsible, fined $35.
