Eddijo Maqui, 44, of 7204 Arbor Drive, Shrewsbury, charged with home invasion, breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony and putting a person in fear, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault and battery, violation of an abuse prevention order, attempting to commit a crime, and possession of burglary tools. The charges were nol prossed. A nol pros or nolle prosequi is a court filing reflecting a prosecutor's decision not to proceed with a criminal case after charges have been brought.

Shannon Mitchell, 22, of 132 Puritan Ave., Worcester, was sentenced to 21/2 years in the House of Correction, with 1 year to be served, after pleading guilty to possession of heroin with intent to distribute. The charge was amended from trafficking in heroin, morphine, or opium. The balance of the sentence was suspended for 4 years with probation. She was placed on probation for 4 years, to begin upon her release, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to violate a drug law. As conditions of probation, she was ordered to remain drug-free and to pay a $65 probation fee. A charge of drug violation near a school or park was dismissed.

Benjamin Povez, 35, of 29 Hollis St., Worcester, was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 4 to 5 years in Walpole state prison after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm without a firearm ID card, amended from firearm violation with three prior violent or drug crimes, and possession of ammunition without a firearm ID card, amended from firearm violation with three prior violent or drug crimes. He was placed on two concurrent terms of 2 years probation, to begin upon his release, after pleading guilty to assault, amended from assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm), and improperly storing a firearm. As conditions of probation, he was ordered to stay away and have no contact with the victim and to pay $65 a probation fee. A charge of assault and battery was dismissed.
