Judge James R. Lemire

Jose Ortiz, 19, of 137 Main St., Spencer, sentenced to two concurrent terms of 2-1/2 years in the House of Correction, with 18 months to be served, after pleading guilty to two counts of carrying a firearm without a license. The balance of the sentence was suspended for 2 years with probation. He was placed on five concurrent terms of 2 years probation, to begin upon his release, after pleading guilty to possession of heroin with intent to distribute, amended from trafficking in heroin, morphine, or opium, two counts of carrying a firearm with ammunition, and two counts of possession of a firearm without a firearm ID card. A charge of allowing another person to use license was dismissed.

Abraham Moreno, 33, of 14 Fairbanks St., Worcester, sentenced to 3 to 5 years in Walpole state prison after pleading guilty to armed robbery (knife). He was placed on probation for 10 years after pleading guilty to assault and battery. As conditions of probation, he was ordered to attend school or obtain employment, to remain drug-free, to submit to random drug tests, and to have no contact with and stay away from the victim.

Robert Cronin, 26, of 41 Carroll St., Milford, sentenced to 1 year to 1 year and a day in Walpole state prison after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property over $250. He was placed on probation for 5 years, to begin forthwith, after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property over $250. As conditions of probation, he was ordered to have no contact with and stay away from the victims, to remain drug-free, to undergo a substance abuse evaluation with any related treatment and counseling as recommended by the Probation Department, to submit to random drug tests, to attend an offender's anonymous program, to pay $1,316 restitution, and to pay a $65 monthly probation fee or to complete 8 hours of community service per month. Charges of breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, larceny over $250, breaking into a depository, and intimidation of a witness were dismissed at the request of the commonwealth.

Michael Paquin, 35, of 33 Royal Road, Worcester, charged with assault and battery, amended from assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot), placed on probation for 18 months, ordered to remain drug- and alcohol-free, to submit to random drug tests, to attend 3 AA meetings per week, and to attend the Brains at Risk program, $50 victim witness fee.

Zachary P. Bailey, 21, of 14 John St., Worcester, charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, fined $625 or ordered to complete 63 hours of community service; trespassing, fined $50, $50 victim witness fee or ordered to complete 10 hours of community service; distribution of marijuana, dismissed; assault and battery, malicious destruction of property over $250, and threatening to commit a crime (to murder), continued to Oct. 13.

Shawn Gray, 26, of 96 May St., Worcester, charged with possession of a firearm without a firearm ID card and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, placed on probation for 1 year, ordered to remain drug-free, to submit to random drug tests, and to make an effort to obtain full-time employment, $50 victim witness fee; possession of a large capacity firearm, improperly storing a large capacity firearm, and possession of a firearm without a firearm ID card, dismissed.
