BOYS' BASKETBALL

Leominster 60, North Middlesex 43: Senior forward Michael Duarte had 27 points and 11 rebounds, including going 10 for 10 from the free-throw line, to lead the Blue Devils (2-4) past the visiting Patriots (3-2).

Junior center Ryan Turbide added 12 points for Leominster.

Brian Magee scored 10 points for North Middlesex.

Maynard 85, Ayer 34: Senior Mike Fowler led four players in double figures with 15 points for the 10th-ranked Tigers (6-0).

Quaboag 56, North Brookfield 32: The host Cougars opened the game with an 11-0 run in which four players scored and led, 20-10, at the half before pulling away in the third quarter to improve to 6-1.

Freshman Thomas Jankins, who scored a game-high 14 points, opened the game with a 3-pointer and had five points in the opening run, with Ryan Plante (12 points, 10 rebounds), David Morin (8 points) and Sean Ramsey (6 points, 8 rebounds) each scoring a bucket.

Rick Caron scored nine points and led the Indians (5-2) in rebounds.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Ayer 46, Maynard 45: Sophomore center Brynnan Farrington sank two foul shots with eight seconds left to put the Panthers up, 46-42.

Danielle Fairweather drained a 3-pointer with two seconds left, but Ayer inbounded the ball, and the game ended.

Ayer trailed 26-13 at the half, but sophomore guard Ally Fillebrown hit three 3s in the third quarter to help pull the Panthers within, 33-32. It was the Mid-Wach D opener for both squads.

Bartlett 44, Oxford 42: Junior Bryana Poulin had 15 points and Lindsey Stone 10 to lead the Indians (3-2, 3-2 SWCL) past the host Pirates (0-6, 0-6).

Junior Nicole Brogna had nine points and 10 rebounds and sophomore Lauren Puishys had five points and 11 rebounds for Oxford.

Grafton 42, Southbridge 32: Junior Shella Raja pumped in 17 points, senior Kirsten Glavin added 11, and the host Indians (1-6, 1-6) upended the Pioneers (1-5, 1-4) in a SWCL matchup.

Emily Brogna scored 11 points for Southbridge.

Millbury 58, Leicester 18: Senior guard Chelsea Perkins scored 13 of her 19 points in the first half as the No. 4 Woolies (6-1) jumped out to a 37-14 lead and coasted to their fifth consecutive win. Maria Giuffrida scored 14 for visiting Leicester (4-4).

Northbridge 54, David Prouty 35: Junior Sarah Phelan had 17 points, 14 rebounds, 6 blocks, 6 steals and 4 assists to power the sixth-ranked Rams past the visiting Panthers (2-4, 1-4 SWCL).
