FITCHBURG Francis E. Berndt, 86, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at The Highlands in Fitchburg.

Mr. Berndt was born in Fitchburg on August 27, 1925 a son of the late Emil and Alice (Boucher) Berndt and has resided in Fitchburg his entire life.

Mr. Berndt is survived by his wife of 63 years Simone (Jacques) Berndt of Fitchburg, one daughter: Donna C. Theirrien and her husband Robert of Cherry Valley; two sons: Reverend Wayne F. Berndt O.F.M. Cap of Okinawa, Japan, Bruce E. Berndt and his wife Sharon of Rutland; one brother: Robert Berndt of Tewksbury; one sister: Claire Stockbridge of Norristown, PA; and five grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, four sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Berndt-Brown, Norma Berndt, Lucille Jacques, Claire Jacques; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Berndt was the brother of the late Emil Berndt and the brother-in-law of the late Philip Stockbridge.

Mr. Berndt was employed at the former Techno Graphics - Fitchburg Paper as a Manager of Quality Control retiring in 1990 after 47 years of employment.

Mr. Berndt served his country during WW II in the US Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1946.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg.

Mr. Berndt was an avid golfer and a former member of the Westminster Country Club and the St. Francis Senior Card Club.
