Town to investigate landowner owing $54K

PAXTON - The town collector has been asked to investigate a property owner who reportedly owes $54,000 in liens and back taxes.

Town Collector Deirdre L. Malone told the Board of Selectmen Monday night that she has sent numerous notices to the home at 250 Marshall St. and they have been returned to her office. She identified the owner as Asastasia K. Rosvall.

Lucille DiLeo, of 535 Marshall St., asked the board to take action against the homeowner. She said the property, between Suomi Street and Kettle Brook golf club, may be vacant and is on the market for $445,000. She said she would consider buying the property, which is on 58 acres, and pay the accrued taxes.

No one at the meeting knew if anyone is living at the home.

Board Chairman Frederick G. Goodrich asked Ms. Malone to come back to the board with all information relating to the property.

The board also reviewed plans for a proposed subdivision of five homes at Camille Circle, off Red Oak Street; such reviews are required by affected town boards.

Town Administrator Charles T. Blanchard told the board:

The Water Commission is applying for state funding for the proposed filtration plant for Asnebumskit Reservoir to help make the project more economically feasible if the town chooses to proceed with the project.

The state has given the town an additional $14,173 for ice storm damage, bringing the town's total from the state to $252,242.

Selectmen also:

Approved Kimberly J. Fontaine of Leicester and John Annunziata of Cherry Valley as part-time dispatchers.

Approved a request from St. Columba Church to hold a bottle and can drive Sept. 11 on the Common.
