MEN'S HOCKEY

Fitchburg State 5, Suffolk 1

Former Gardner High standout Matt Arsenault scored his 15th goal of the season and added an assist as the Falcons (10-8-3) defeated the Rams (10-10) at the Wallace Civic Center, notching the 400th career victory for coach Dean Fuller.

Fuller has a 400-203-31 record in his 24th season, all at Fitchburg.

Devan McConnell had 30 saves for the Falcons.

Holy Cross 1, Army 1

The visiting Crusaders bounced back from a 2-0 defeat to the Black Knights on Friday night to salvage a tie in the second game of an Atlantic Hockey Association weekend series at Tate Rink in West Point, N.Y.

Holy Cross took a 1-0 lead at 14:43 of the first period when sophomore forward Brodie Sheahan blasted a slap shot past Army goalie Josh Kassel. Mark Znutas and Matt Burke assisted.

Army tied the game on a Robb Ross goal 1:58 into the third.

The Crusaders (8-13-7, 7-11-4) outshot the Black Knights (12-12-4, 12-7-3), 28-23.

Freshman Adam Roy made 22 saves for Holy Cross.

Stonehill 5, Assumption 1

Senior captain Jim Trahon made a perfect pass to senior John Routhier to set up the only goal for the Greyhounds (6-16) in a loss to the Skyhawks (8-7-1) in Bridgewater.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Saint Rose 82, Assumption 75

Corey Diethorn scored 21 points, including the 1,000th of his career, and Greg Twomey added 20 for the Greyhounds, who fell behind by 10 points at halftime and didn't recover at Albany, N.Y.

Diethorn notched his scoring career high, while Twomey was 3 for 3 on 3-pointers. Unfortunately for the Hounds (17-7, 11-6 Northeast-10), the rest of the team hit just 2 of 18 3-pointers.

Saint Rose is 18-5, 15-3 in the league.

Salem State 61, Fitchburg State 58

Jeff Kozik had 16 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists, but his host Falcons encountered foul trouble and struggled in the second half.

Tim Graham scored a game-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and was 4 of 4 from the line for Fitchburg State (14-6, 6-2 MASCAC), and Peter Uzoma finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Senior guard Ramon Cruz led the Vikings (15-5, 5-2) with 12 points, while teammate Dylan Holmes of Groton had 10 points and six rebounds.

Westfield St. 71, Worcester St. 52

Senior forward Josh Barry had seven points and 10 rebounds as the visiting Lancers (9-12, 2-6) were dominated by the Owls (15-6, 5-3) in a MASCAC game.

Junior forward Matt Badjo of Worcester had 10 points for Westfield State.
