Man gets two years on gaming charges; Guilty of 2 counts of witness tampering.

WORCESTER - A Gardner man was sentenced to two years in prison yesterday for witness tampering and conducting an illegal gambling business on behalf of an organized crime figure.

Dennis O. Jenks of 232 Chapel St. was sentenced by Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV in U.S. District Court. Mr. Jenks was convicted March 14 in a five-day jury trial on conducting an illegal gambling business and two counts of witness tampering, while being acquitted of two other charges of witness tampering.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael L. Tabak and Fred M. Wyshak Jr. alleged Mr. Jenks operated gambling machines in a bar in Lowell on behalf of Arthur Gianelli of Lynnfield, brother-in-law of convicted ex-FBI agent John J. Connolly Jr. Mr. Gianelli and 15 other people have been charged with 520 counts, including racketeering and extortion, in a case centered in Eastern Massachusetts.

Central Massachusetts people charged with Mr. Gianelli are Dennis Albertelli and his wife, Gisele Albertelli, both of 151 Hudson Road, Stow; Randy Albertelli, of 565 High St., Clinton; and Frank Iacaboni, of 640 Union St., Leominster.
