BOYS' HOCKEY

Nashoba 4, Gardner 1: Kevin Gilchrest scored two goals and had an assist and Mike Lengieza scored a goal with two assists for the visiting Chieftains (10-4-2, 6-1-1 Coughlin). Tim Swenson had 44 saves for the Wildcats (2-13, 0-6).

Algonquin 6, Hudson 4: Brody Gardner scored twice and Brian Ward had a goal and an assist for the host Tomahawks (6-7-2) at North Star. Zack Chartrand had a goal and an assist and Dan Borella and J.D. Dutney each had a pair of assists for the Hawks (5-7-3).

Grafton 5, Oakmont 5: Senior right-wing Mike Palmer had a goal and three assists for the host Indians (11-4-1, 6-2-1 Coughlin). Gage Duteau scored two goals, including the equalizer with 3:40 left for the Spartans (8-4-3, 3-1-3).

Westboro 2, Auburn 2: Senior captain Greg Alves' power-play goal pulled the Rangers (3-12-2) even with the Rockets (5-8-2) with 4:20 left at North Star Youth Forum.

Alves took a pass from Brandon King at center ice, skated wide around the defensemen, cut to the middle and lifted the puck under the crossbar. Scott Erickson also scored for Westboro, while Jason Vrusho and Cameron Lanier had the Auburn goals.

Xaverian 3, St. John's 3: Chris Coveney, Dan Barlok and Kevin Quinlivan each scored for the visiting Pioneers (6-7-4), who couldn't hold onto a 3-1 lead after two periods and finished in a tie with Xaverian (6-6-4).

GIRLS' HOCKEY

Auburn 4, Shrewsbury 2: Freshman Katie Mason scored and had two assists to lead the host Rockets (5-8, 1-5 GEMIHL). Lauren Ineson and Samantha DiReda scored for the Colonials (7-5-1, 5-1-1).

Franklin 4, Algonquin 4: Andrea Fahey scored twice, including the tying goal with 24 seconds left, for the Tomahawks (2-8-2). Alex Schley and Nicolette San Clemente also scored for Algonquin.

Nobles 9, Groton 1: Eighth-grader Becca Gilmore netted a hat trick and an assist for the Bulldogs.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

Blackstone-Millville 57, Nipmuc 54: Junior guard David O'Connor exploded for seven 3-pointers and 24 points, and senior forward Matt Nordquist scored half of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, including a crucial basket with 1:19 left, as the visiting Chargers (7-9, 4-5 DVC) held off a late rally by the Warriors (5-11, 3-6) in Upton.

Senior forward Kevin Gautreau added 11 points and nine rebounds for BMR.

Senior center Derek Moore led Nipmuc with 15 points while senior guard Zach Giardini had 11 of his 14 points, including three 3-pointers, in the Warriors'...
