Joe Green scattered five hits and struck out eight in six innings to pick up the win for the host No. 1 Pioneers (3-1), who scored four runs on outs.

Joe Young was 1 for 2 with two sacrifice flies. His first sac fly drove in Garrett Smith, who doubled in the first inning. Kevin Quaranto was 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.

St. Peter-Marian 6, South 2

Junior first baseman Frank Flynn blasted a grand slam that landed just short of the I-290 onramp at Fitton Field to highlight a five-run first inning as the Guardians bested the visiting Colonels.

Matt Gemme pitched four strong innings for No. 7 St. Peter-Marian (1-1).

Jorge Castillo had a RBI single for South (0-1).

West Boylston 8, Maynard 0

Ryan Milewski struck out six in six scoreless innings to pick up the victory for the visiting Lions in the opening game for both Mid-Wach D teams.

Mike Cleary was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Mike Chevalier singled in the third inning, stole second and third, and scored the first run of the game on an RBI single by Cleary.

Oxford 10, Southbridge 1

Senior co-captain Alex Roycewicz went 3 for 4 with a pair of home runs and drove in six runs and pitched a four-hitter while striking out seven as the Pirates (1-3) won at home.

Grafton 7, Leicester 6

The Indians rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to grind out a win over the visiting Wolverines.

With one out sophomore leftfielder Nick Lacroix tied the game with a two-run triple. After senior captain Steve McKernan reached on an infield single, Lacroix scored on a line-drive single to left-center by Tom Bruso for Grafton (2-0).

Mike Rockwood went 2 for 4 for Leicester (1-2).

Hudson Catholic 2, Assabet Valley 1

The visiting Green Wave (1-0) scored two runs in the top of the second as Will Garner led off and was hit by a pitch and Greg Haberger singled. Shane Penzone hit a sacrifice fly moving Garner to third base before Haberger stole second. Ethan Casucci knocked in both runs with a two-run single.

Adam Ryan was 1 for 2 with a double for the Aztecs (0-1) who scored an unearned run on a passed ball.

Douglas 16, Sutton 9

Junior left fielder Joe Saster went 2 for 3 and drove in four runs while senior co-captain Brian Poudrier smacked a two-run homer as the host Tigers won a Dual Valley Conference matchup.

Saster broke the game open with a three-run double in the third as Douglas (3-0 overall, 3-0 DVC) plated seven runs in the frame. Junior shortstop Chris Davis...
