Harold Coyne April 21, 1928 - February 26, 2010.

WORCESTER Harold Coyne, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2010 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, Molly (Kleiner) Coyne and David Coyne, and his older brothers and sister, Al Coyne, Barney Coyne, and Beatrice Gordon. He was the loving husband for 59 years of Selma Claire (Jacobs) Coyne. Harold was also very proud to be the father of Gail Rosenberg of Oak Park, California and David Coyne of Worcester, Massachusetts, father-in-law of Alan Rosenberg and Dr. Margot Barnet, and grandfather, affectionately known as Poppo, of Molly and Erica Rosenberg.

Harold was a native of Brooklyn, New York and attended Manual Training High School and New York University (uptown). He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged after studying to become a military meteorologist. Harold owned and operated Coyne's French Cleaners, a small chain of dry cleaning stores in Brooklyn during the 1950s to 1970s. He later worked as a realtor before moving to south Florida, first part time and more recently on an almost full time basis. In recent years, he and Selma also summered in Killington, Vermont.

Harold was an accomplished and very competitive athlete, boxing and playing football in his youth and playing paddleball and later softball regularly into his sixties. He was a proficient windmill softball pitcher and played in a semi-pro league in his thirties.
