Assabet 44, Ayer-Shirley 34: The visiting Aztecs (1-1) rushed for more than 500 yards, led by Paul Harpin, who ran 27 times for an unofficial total of 411 yards.

Assabet coach Rob McCann said he would confirm that number, which would tie him for fifth all-time in state history, after reviewing the game film.

Harpin scored his third touchdown with 2:30 left on a 75-yard run and Santo Frescola's 2-point conversion rush made it 44-34.

Assabet was led by the offensive line of Jeremy LeBlanc, Tyler Charbonneau, Tony Sassone, Nate May and Keith Damicius and tight end Derek Yanchewski.

Harpin also scored on rushes of 16 and 11 yards, while Chris Schofield had a 14-yard score, Frescola added a 14-yard plunge and Kyle Fernandes scored on a 1-yard rush in the fourth quarter.

Alex Walker scored twice for the Panthers (0-2), while Walker also connected with Ryan Richard (7 yards) and Justice Wallace (24 yards).

Bartlett 45, Quaboag 6: Alex Givens-Perry had 101 yards on five carries, including a 57-yard touchdown, and James Patterson had seven carries for 75 yards and a TD for the visiting Indians (1-1) in Warren.
