HC fires blanks against Army.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Holy Cross 3, Army 0; Holy Cross 1, Army 0: Sophomore Justin Finan pitched a three-hitter in the opener and Brendan King scattered four hits over seven shutout innings in the nightcap as the visiting Crusaders (20-20, 11-5 Patriot) swept the Black Knights (18-20, 5-11).

Sophomore Alex Voitik scored on a dropped infield fly in the opener to give Holy Cross a 1-0 lead and the Crusaders added two more on a throwing error in the seventh.

Bobby Indeglia had an RBI single in the top of the eighth to score pinch-runner Bobby Pease to lift Holy Cross in the second game. Sean Gustin earned the win with two shutout innings of relief.

Becker 10, Newbury 5: Matt Consigli tripled and drove in three runs, while Niko Bedelli had three hits and Sean Stone and T.J. Sempkowski each had two hits to lead the Hawks (12-12) past the Nighthawks (13-17) at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton.

Fran Baldino and Kevin Perez (double) each drove in two runs for Becker.

Clark 6, Emerson 5; Clark 10, Emerson 6: Michael Eglow had four hits, including a double and two RBIs on the day as the host Cougars (11-14, 8-7 NEWMAC) swept the Lions (1-25, 1-14).

James Conway (double) and Daniel Lima (double) also had two hits in the opener, while Tyler Hutchinson was 3 for 5 with a double, homer and three RBIs in the nightcap for Clark.

Dennis Glynn also had two hits and scored twice in the second game for the Cougars.

Quinsigamond 5, New Hampshire Technical Institute 0: Jacob Bradley pitched eight scoreless innings and John Kewley was 3 for 5 with a two-run double to lead the visiting Wyverns (3-4).

Bradley scattered four hits and two walks while striking out eight batters.

Roger Williams 8, Nichols 6; Roger Williams 7, Nichols 5: Sophomore Mike Piekarczyk of Dudley drove in three runs and scored twice, but the host Bison (5-14-1, 2-9-1 CCC) were swept by the Hawks (13-16, 8-6).

Piekarczyk was 3 for 4 in the first game for Nichols. Sophomore Tom Ford had two RBIs in the second game, while classmate Matt Hardy added two hits and an RBI.

Southern New Hampshire 14, Assumption 2: Andrew Iaehnig was 3 for 4 and former Northbridge High star Greg O'Donnell had a solo homer, but the host Greyhounds (8-22, 4-11 NE-10) fell to the Penmen (24-7, 10-2).

Assumption 8, St. Anselm 3; St. Anselm 6, Assumption 5: Ashley Abad was 2 for 4 with a two-run homer and three RBIs, while Andrea Crowley was 2 for 4 with a RBI in the opener to propel the visiting Greyhounds...
