MEN'S HOCKEY

Assumption 6, Worcester State 2: Sophomore left wing Pat O'Kane scored twice in the first period to lead the Greyhounds (12-9-1) past the Lancers (5-12-2) at Buffone Rink.

O'Kane now has 27 goals on the season. Only Paul Lamoureux (1978-79, 31) and Steve Tucci (1983-84, 30) have scored more in an Assumption season.

O'Kane opened the scoring for the Greyhounds with an unassisted goal 7:04 into the game.

After Worcester State freshman forward Eric Rutz tied the game on the power play at 8:16, O'Kane scored his second of the game with a man advantage at 10:38.

Sophomore Nick Blanchette, a former Worcester Academy standout, made 32 saves to post the win.

Worcester State's Shaun Tribbett scored his first goal of the season at 2:58 of the second period to tie the game at 2, before the Greyhounds scored three straight goals to take a 5-2 lead into the third period.

Fitchburg State 6, Framingham State 3: Andrew Jones scored 2:58 into the game, then Eric Trahan and Thomas McAleer followed with goals less than 4-1/2 minutes in, giving the MASCAC-leading Falcons (16-3-1, 11-2) a quick three-goal cushion.

Tucker Callen, Trevor Lawler and Kris Threlkeld also scored for Fitchburg State, which got 26 saves from Robert Vorse.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Becker 76, Mitchell 48: Mudia Osewegie, Trey Jacobs and Matt Petrides each scored 12 points to lead the host Hawks in New England Collegiate Conference action.

Becker (13-8, 9-1) outrebounded Mitchell, 23-12, in the first half and shot 57 percent from the field to take a 10-point lead at the break.

Osewegie hit back-to-back baskets early in the second, and the Hawks built a 16-point lead.

Rajai Leggett had a game-high nine rebounds for Becker

Northern Essex 72, Quinsigamond 64: Sergio Florence had 21 points, 6 steals and 7 assists, but the host Chiefs fell to visiting Northern Essex.

Adam Fahey and A.C. Lambert added 13 points apiece for Quinsigamond.
