GREATER LANCASTER FOOD DRIVE:and holiday gift basket program, from the College Church of Seventh-day Adventists, 337 Main St., South Lancaster, is under way. In 2014, 251 families received baskets. The distribution includes Clinton, Lancaster, Berlin, Sterling, Bolton and Leominster. On Nov. 8, the group will collect donations in the community, then distribute baskets Nov. 22. CRAFT FAIR: at the Perkins School's Herman Center (gym), 971 Main St., is Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.There is no admission and it is open to the public. Proceeds go toward adult and elderly residents.

CHILI FEST: is Saturday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the First Church, in Lancaster. There will be 10 varieties of chili, from mild to fiery, vegetarian to beanless, Caribbean to Texan, plus chips, salsa, cornbread and pies. The cost is $10, $8 for seniors and $5 for children.

RECYCLE DAY: at South Lancaster Academy is Sunday, Nov. 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The school is at 198 George Hill Road, South Lancaster. All items are 100 percent recycled. There is a low rate for large electrical items, like freezers, TVs, microwaves and monitors. The drive now accepts automotive batteries and propane tanks at a reasonable fee. Newspapers and magazines are free. The school cannot accept non-automotive batteries, tires, mattresses or furniture. Businesses are welcome. 'LANCASTER - THE MOTHER TOWN': with Lancaster author John Schumacher Hardy, will be at the Boylston Historical Society on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. In 1653, the Lancaster Planation included Boylston,Harvard, Stow, Bolton, Hudson, Marlboro, Leominster, Clinton and Berlin. The program is in the Old Town Hall, 7 Central St., Boylston, opposite the Common. Copies of his book, "Local Lore,'' will be available to purchase. GREEN REEL FILM SERIES: at the Community Hall, First Church of Christ, Unitarian, 725 Main St. will show "The Wisdom to Survive'' on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. The film is free and open to the public.
