Mary Lapen.

WARE / WESTBORO - Mary (Kondrat) Lapen, 84, of Chapala, Jal, Mexico, formerly of Westboro, West Brookfield, and Ware, passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, in Casita del Lago, Ajijic, Mexico. Her husband, Dr. Walter Lapen, died in 1967.

She is survived by three sons, Charles Lapen of West Brookfield, Daniel Lapen and his wife, Jennifer, of Lancaster and Anthony Lapen of Walpole; and two grandchildren, Lt. Dr. Peter Lapen of Emerald Isle, N.C., and Lindsay Lapen of Lancaster.

Born in Worcester on Sept. 16, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Annie (Luksis) Kondrat, Mrs. Lapen was raised in Ware. She was a graduate of Ware High School and the Bancroft School of Massage in Worcester.

She worked as a dental assistant prior to raising her family. She later owned and operated a nursery school for several years.
