COLUMN: VETERANS NOTES

The medical van owned by Veterans Hospice Homestead of Fitchburg will stop at six locations this week:

Tuesday: Clinton VFW Post 523, 10 Allen St., Clinton, 10 to 11:30 a.m.; Massachusetts Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester, noon to 3 p.m.

Thursday: Clark Memorial Community Center, Central Street, Winchendon, 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; Townsend VFW Post 6538, 491 Main St., West Townsend, 1 to 3 p.m.

Friday: Webster-Dudley American Legion Post 184, 9 Houghton St., Webster, 10 a.m. to noon; West Boylston Town Hall, 151 Prescott St., West Boylston, 12:45 to 3 p.m.

A nurse will conduct health screenings, including cholesterol and blood glucose levels and hypertension testing, and answer medical questions for veterans enrolled in the VA health care system.

The East Side American Legion Post 201 will hold its annual cookout from 5 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at 326 Plantation St., Worcester. There will be no regular post meeting for July.

The following members have been elected to the post's executive committee: Joe Falco, commander; Jack Virgilio, chairman; John Glynn, adjutant; Scott Laplante, finance officer; Pat Santora, Guy Corio, Phil Belliveau, Dan McAuliffe and Anthony Coffobe.

Grafton Hill American Legion Post 323 will meet at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post quarters, 88 Bancroft St., Auburn.

Barre American Legion Post 2 will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow, 21 Allen Drive, Barre.

Italian American War Veterans Post 3 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Itam Court, Worcester.

James R. Kirby American Legion Post 50 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the VFW Hall on Allen Street, Clinton. The executive board will meet at 6:30.
