'Nadoes win after missing playoffs; Farley brilliant in the season finale.

BROCKTON - The Tornadoes found out during last night's game here against the Rox that they won't be heading back to the Cam-Am League playoffs.

But that didn't stop Chris Farley from putting forth one of the team's finest pitching performances of the season, a complete game in Worcester's 3-1, season-ending victory.

In its regular-season finale yesterday, New Jersey won at Quebec, 9-3, to clinch the final playoff spot as the fourth-place team overall. The game ended while the Tornadoes and Rox were locked in a scoreless duel.

The Jackals will remain in Canada to face the Capitales in the first round of the playoffs starting Wednesday.

The Pittsfield Colonials, with Can-Am League Manager of the Year Brian Daubach, will play the Rox Wednesday night here at Campanelli Stadium in the other semifinal series.

The Tornadoes finished a half-game behind the Jackals at 42-51; New Jersey was 42-50. New Jersey and Worcester finished tied for fourth in the second half at 23-23.

With no score, Brockton second baseman Jimmer Kennedy relieved Colin Lynch to start the 10th, and the Tornadoes capitalized. Danny Santiesteban, Rick Asadoorian and Billy Cather singled to start the inning.
