NEWARK, N.J. - The Worcester Tornadoes started the second-half schedule yesterday by scoring four runs in the top of the ninth inning for a 12-10 win in the opener of a four-game series with the Newark Bears at Bears-Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

Cameron Monger singled in Mark Minicozzi for the first run in the ninth, and two batters later, Brendan Kelliher's single drove in Nick Salottie. Monger then came in on an error by right fielder Danny Santiesteban, a former Tornado. Ryan Crespi scored the last run on a sacrifice fly by Chase Fontaine.

The ninth inning came with a little extra drama when manager Ed Riley and catcher Alex Trezza were ejected from the game for arguing balls and strikes.
