On behalf of Leominster Credit Union, President and CEO Gordon R. Edmonds recently presented a check for $2,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Massachusetts. The funds will support programs directed at area youths, ages 8 to 18, who develop the qualities they need to become responsible citizens and leaders.

Carree Villeneuve graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with highest honors on May 21. While there, she completed 67 credits and received an associate's degree in early childhood education and maintained a GPA of 3.9. During her time at Quinsigamond, she volunteered several times with Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society she was inducted into last April. Most recently, Phi Theta visited Paul Newman's The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, for seriously ill children, in Ashford, Conn. She is a member of the NAEYC, an organization dedicated to the education and development of young children, and additionally in March she attended MassAEYC Annual Conference in Westford, accepted a gold stole and tassel for volunteer work with Phi Theta, and received an Outstanding Student Award from the faculty at QCC. In the near future, she will be pursuing a lead teacher position with the ability to plan curriculum and foster children's development and learning.

Dan Mandell, Nashoba Class of 2005, graduated magna cum laude and received the Professor Ellgaard Award for Excellence in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University and will be attending UMass Medical School in August. His interests lie in ER medicine and surgery.

Jeffrey Jordan-Reisner graduated on May 16 from Bryant University with a bachelor's of business administration degree.

The annual meeting of Berlin Retirement Homes, Inc. was held in the Community Building of Northbrook Village on May 4. Many corporators, guests and residents attended to hear the annual reports and elect board members.

The following members were elected to serve three-year terms on the board of directors: Lynda Nelson, Patricia Simpson and Margaret Wilson. Elected as officers on the board were the following: Ken Harrold, president; Trudy Tervo, vice president; Lynda Nelson, secretary; and Margaret Wilson, treasurer. Remaining members of the board are: Eleanor Gunderson, Virginia Johnson, Barry Matthew Jr., Andrew Munter and Patricia Simpson.

Bancroft School in Worcester announces junior Megan Anderson, daughter of Paul Anderson and Ann Cichon of Berlin, was inducted into the Bancroft School chapter of the National Cum Laude Society recently.

Sarah Merrick Patten, of Sterling, received a bachelor's degree in food science and nutritional sciences on May 24, from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.

This year, Village Green Preschool awarded its fifth annual $1,000 scholarship to Erin Sadler. She attended Village Green from 1994 to 1996 and recently graduated from Nashoba Regional High School.
