Raffles for RRI

STURBRIDGE - Local businesses in the Tri-Community area have partnered with Rehabilitative Resources Inc. for a raffle fundraiser to support people with developmental disabilities.

Raffle tickets are being sold throughout March at select retail locations, for $2 each or three for $5. Retail sales locations include Ted's Package Store in Charlton; A Shear Image in Southbridge, and Simple Indulgence Day Spa and Rom's Restaurant, both in Sturbridge.

"We are very happy to have these businesses working with us on this event. Their support greatly benefits the people we serve out in the community," said Bonnie Keefe-Layden, chief executive officer of RRI.

Raffle prizes include: a 15-inch Sharp Aquos LCD TV; an iPod Nano; a Sturbridge Host weekend getaway that includes breakfast and two tickets to Stageloft Theatre; an overnight stay at Foxwoods Casino; and a $100 gift certificate to Cormier's Jewelers in Southbridge. Nominations sought

THOMPSON - As part of the 2007 Regional Springtime Festival, Thompson is looking for residents to make nominations for Volunteer of the Year, Mother of the Year and Citizen of the Year. To nominate someone, submit a letter to the Board of Selectmen with a brief essay explaining why you are making the nomination. Nominees must be Thomson residents.

Deadline for nominations is April 13. Include the name, address and phone number for both you and the person you are nominating. Mail to Thompson Board of Selectmen, PO Box 899, North Grosvenordale, CT 06255.
