Patrick nominates local lawyers to bench.

BOSTON - Two local lawyers have been nominated by Gov. Deval L. Patrick to serve as judges in Worcester and Leominster district courts.

Jennifer L. Ginsburg of Worcester, currently working as the director of the Worcester District Court office of the Committee for Public Counsel Services, was nominated as associate justice of Worcester District Court.

Maura K. McCarthy of Shrewsbury, chief of the Child Abuse/Sexual Assault/Disabled and Elderly Units for the Middlesex district attorney's office, was nominated as associate justice of Leominster District Court.

Mr. Patrick said their reputations and commitment to justice stood out as he made the selections to fill the two district court openings.

"Jennifer Ginsburg and Maura McCarthy are very well-respected attorneys, with demonstrated expertise and commitment to the fair administration of justice and to the communities served by the district court," Mr. Patrick said in announcing the nominations, which have been forwarded to the Governor's Council for approval.

Ms. Ginsburg has worked in her current post since 2006, after serving as a staff lawyer for the Committee for Public Counsel Services from 1997 to 2006. She previously worked as a staff lawyer for the Nassau County Legal Aid...
