WORCESTER Paul E. Maynard, 82, of Worcester died peacefully early Friday morning, January 21, 2011, after a long illness.

Paul was born on October 2, 1928 at Dresser Hill Farm in Charlton, the son of Joseph H. Maynard and Anna (Ravenelle) Maynard. He was the youngest of nine children and the last surviving sibling.

Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita (Paulin) Maynard of Worcester; his daughters, Patricia Emory of Woodbridge, NJ and her husband, Linton "Skip" Emory; and Jane Maynard of Gig Harbor, WA and her husband, James Treyens; his grandchildren, Richard Emory of North Brunswick, NJ; Matthew Emory of Houston, TX and his wife, Meredith Emory; Michael Emory of Desert Hot Springs, CA; Daniel Menten of Trinidad, CA; and Rebecca Menten of San Francisco, CA. He was predeceased in 1960 by his daughter, Linda, of Southbridge.

Paul was raised on Dresser Hill Farm in Charlton where he worked very hard from a young age caring for the family's dairy cows. He attended a one-room schoolhouse as a young boy in Charlton and graduated from Charlton High School, where he played basketball and baseball. Paul began delivering milk as a young man and eventually became dairy plant manager at Dresser Hill Farm Dairy, a position he held for close to 30 years. Paul was a good businessman and, being mechanically inclined, he maintained the plant's equipment with skill. He also worked at Mosher's Dairy in Coventry, CT and Schott Fiber Optics, Inc. in Southbridge, from which he retired in 1990. Paul enjoyed working on his home in Southbridge, where he completed many remodeling projects, including plumbing, wiring, and carpentry. Paul loved sports, especially baseball and hockey, and was a faithful fan of the Red Sox and Boston Bruins. He especially enjoyed attending his grandsons, Matthew...
