LITITZ, PA - Rev. Peter V. Marsden, 72, died peacefully in hospice care in Lancaster, PA on Saturday, July 6, 2013 of complications from a stroke. A long-time resident of New England, Peter had spent the last nine years living in Lititz, PA, with his loving wife, Cheryl Krull Marsden.

Peter was raised in Spencer, MA, and attended David Prouty High School, Clark University, Bentley University, and Gordon Theological Seminary. After initially pursuing a career as an accountant, Peter found his calling and became an ordained Congregational minister, spending the next thirty-plus years serving churches in several New England towns: Hampton, Thomaston, Warren, and Woodbury, CT; Springfield, VT; and West Brookfield, MA. Peter worked for another decade as an interim pastor in York Beach and Harpswell, ME; Sturbridge, MA; and Annville, Adamstown, and Mount Joy, PA.

Peter loved sports, specifically the Boston Red Sox, Portland Sea Dogs and UCONN Huskies. Peter was also a softball umpire and basketball referee and frequently participated in town basketball and bowling leagues. He was an avid runner much of his life, completing the Boston Marathon in 1968 and the Litchfield Hills Road Race in June of this year. He enjoyed games of all types but was especially adept at card games. A few months before his death, Peter competed for the tenth time in the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. Music was another passion, and Peter sang in various church and regional choirs and community musical theater...
