Ruth M. (Parks) Rooney, 98LEOMINSTER - Ruth M. (Parks) Rooney, 98 years old, of Leominster, died March 9, 2015 in the Sterling Village. She is survived by her 2 daughters Jane P. Perreault and her husband Kevin of Leominster and Ellen M. LeClair and her husband James of Leominster, 2 sons William P. Rooney and his wife Kacie of Fairfax, VA and Ernest L. Rooney and his wife Debra of Leominster, her 9 grandchildren David Rooney, Michael LeClair, Charles Rooney, Julie LeClair, John Rooney, Diana Perreault, Thomas Rooney, Patrick Rooney and Andrew Rooney, 3 great grandchildren Corbin Rooney, Raegan Rooney and Cameron LeClair and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 2 sisters Eleanor Reynolds and Arline Weyler and her brother Lewis Parks. Ruth was born on May 6, 1916 in Stoneham, the youngest child of Ernest A. and J. Marie (Jensen) Parks. She graduated from Stoneham High School in 1933, from Jackson College of Tufts College in 1937, where she was an outstanding field hockey player. She received her Masters Degree from Fitchburg State College in 1967. Following World War II, Ruth served as a Recreational Director with the U. S. Army Special Services at McNair Barracks in Berlin, Germany and was there during the Blockade / Airlift in 1948-1949. She taught English at Leominster High School for several years, before retiring in 1982. She also had worked at the former Stevens Business College in Fitchburg and the former Leominster...
