HOCKEY

Providence 2, Holy Cross 1: Junior co-captain Everett Sheen recorded his 50th career point with his 27th goal, but Daniel New scored the winner for the Friars with 1:18 left in the second period at Schneider Arena in Providence.

PC took a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Holy Cross tied it at 8:43 of the second when Sheen knocked a loose puck by Friars goalie Alex Beaudry.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Clark 1, Babson 0: Senior Joanna Clark turned away six shots, and senior Jess Mirkin banged home a loose ball in front 2:41 into the game as the Cougars extended their unbeaten streak to five. More importantly, Clark is 3-0-1 in the NEWMAC, a half-game ahead of Wheaton (3-1).

Lesley 2, Becker 0: The Lynx (9-4-1, 4-0) created some separation in the New England Collegiate Conference standings between themselves and the Hawks (7-5, 3-1).

Westfield State 6, Fitchburg State 1: The visiting Falcons (3-8-1, 1-3 MASCAC) got a goal from Katrina Marrone in the 27th minute.

Worcester State 0, Bridgewater State 0: Junior Rachael Armenti of West Boylston stopped seven shots on her way to a shutout for the Lancers (5-5-1, 2-0-1) as they battled to a draw with the Bears (4-5-2, 0-3-1) in a MASCAC matchup in Bridgewater.

WPI 1, Mount Holyoke 0: Senior Liz Tuite scored the only goal, and freshman Rebecca Newman registered her second shutout to help the visiting Engineers (5-8, 1-3 NEWMAC).

MEN'S SOCCER

Bridgewater State 3, Worcester State 1: Miguel Vidal scored in the second half for the host Lancers (1-10-2, 0-2-2 MASCAC).

Bucknell 1, Holy Cross 0: The visiting Crusaders (3-8, 1-2 Patriot) were shut out for the seventh time this season.

Clark 1, WPI 1: In a game between teams expected to vie for NCAA Tournament bids, the Cougars (8-3-1, 1-2-1 NEWMAC) and visiting WPI (9-2-1, 2-0-1) played to a tie. Sophomore Adrian Blackadar scored for Clark, Tommy Zajac for WPI.

Nichols 2, Anna Maria 1: Junior Mark Capitanio scored in the 99th minute to lift the Bison (8-5, 4-4 Commonwealth Coast) over the AmCats (8-5, 4-4) in Dudley.

Westfield State 2, Fitchburg State 0: The Falcons (2-7-2, 0-3-1 MASCAC) had two scoring opportunities late in the half, but sophomore Trevor Higgins' header sailed high and freshman Richie Harvey's shot was denied.

FIELD HOCKEY

Anna Maria 7, Regis 0: Angela Giuffrida of Leicester scored less than 30 seconds into the game, and the AmCats finished the first half with five goals in Weston.
