WORCESTER - Holy Cross director of athletics Dick Regan has narrowed the list of candidates for the vacant men's basketball head coach position.

Regan confirmed last night he will conduct final interviews with as many as three candidates beginning Monday.

"We have one person coming back, probably a second and possibly a third," Regan said.

Sources said University of Notre Dame assistant Sean Kearney is one of the finalists.

Regan said the new hire will likely be announced Wednesday, which was his original target date to have Ralph Willard's successor in place. Willard resigned earlier this month to become Rick Pitino's top assistant at the University of Louisville.

Kearney, 49, has been a top-level assistant for 22 years, serving as Notre Dame's associate head coach under Mike Brey for the last nine seasons. Before that, Kearney, a 1981 graduate of the University of...
