WORCESTER - With a child holding a pulse meter on the finger of her severely beaten mother, the child's father, who authorities allege had inflicted the woman's injuries, and his sister performed CPR for an hour and then - finding a heartbeat - failed to call 911.

Lisa Ricardo, whose brother is accused of killing his wife in their Shrewsbury home last month, is now also charged with murder. Authorities say she failed to call 911 for help either before the victim's heart stopped, after she was revived, or after she died the next morning. In addition to seeing her brother beat and choke her sister-in-law, Ms. Ricardo may also have taken part in the beatings, authorities allege.

Ms. Ricardo was initially charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder. The Worcester grand jury handed up murder indictments against Ms. Ricardo, 38, and her brother, Keith Rosiello, 44, Monday. The sister and bother were both indicted Monday on two counts of child endangerment in addition to the murder charges.

Wearing a gray Patriots sweatshirt and blue jeans, Ms. Ricardo, 38, was arraigned yesterday morning in Worcester Superior Court. Her brother is expected to be arraigned in Worcester Superior Court later this week.

Maureen Rosiello, 44, was beaten to death the night of Feb. 3 in her home at 32 Deerfield Road, Shrewsbury, according to police. Mr. Rosiello was charged with murder the next day.

Ms. Ricardo had been arraigned on charges of being an accessory after the fact of murder and child endangerment in Westboro District Court last month. Ms. Ricardo's husband posted her $20,000 cash bail Feb. 9. As conditions of her release, she had to surrender her passport, remain in Massachusetts, stay away from the victim's two children, and wear a GPS monitoring device. Ms. Ricardo was arrested on a warrant Monday night at her home. Her brother, Mr. Rosiello, was ordered held without bail at his arraignment last month in Westboro District Court.

Ms. Ricardo, of 106 Wilbur St., Raynham, and formerly of Shrewsbury, pleaded not guilty and appeared to show little emotion in the courtroom. She periodically glanced at some family members, who waved to her from their seats.

Assistant District Attorney Anthony J. Marotta asked Judge Peter W. Agnes Jr. to order Ms. Ricardo held without bail because of what he called the extreme cruelty and atrocious nature of the slaying. Ms. Ricardo's lawyer in court yesterday, Raymond A. O'Hara, argued that she...
