14-year-old held in stabbing of teen; Wound possibly life-threatening in knife fight.

WORCESTER - A 14-year-old city boy was arrested yesterday afternoon after he allegedly knifed an 18-year-old following an argument at 6 Hitchcock Road, police said.

Those involved tried to cover up the alleged assault by saying it was an accident, according to police.

The victim's knife wound in the hip and groin area was potentially life-threatening, police said. The youth was transported by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus.

The 14-year-old was arrested by Officer Brian P. Gerardi of the Operations Division and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a knife. The weapon was retrieved by investigators.

Police said Officers Gerardi and David Mita were dispatched about 3:45 p.m. for a report concerning two brothers who had been "play fighting" with knives and one had been stabbed in the left leg and chest. A further update said the boys had been...
