FOXBORO -- In the New England Revolution's first postseason appearance since 2009, they pushed MLS champion Sporting Kansas City harder than any other team in the 2013 playoffs, winning the first leg match and leading on aggregate late in the second leg before crashing out in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

Saturday night's rematch proved just as exciting, and this time New England was able to change its fortunes, scoring twice in second half stoppage time to pull away for an unlikely, 2-0 rollercoaster victory in front of 14,806 at Gillette Stadium.

"I thought both teams really wanted the game and it showed,'' Revs coach Jay Heaps said. "I liked our mentality and I liked how we finished the game.''

Sporting KC outcast Teal Bunbury dove bravely at the near post to head home on a right-side cross from Leominster's Diego Fagundez in the 92nd minute.

Two minutes later, Fagundez found himself in acres of space between the SKC defense, drawing out keeper Eric Kronberg and forcing a penalty kick after Oriol Rosell handled the ball in the box. A minute later, midfielder Lee Nguyen stepped to the spot and finished into the left corner for his second PK goal in as many games.
