As we roll into 2010, the Schematic Design work is proceeding at a rapid pace. The Building Committee has been working closely with the architects, acting as a focal point for ideas from the school administration, faculty members, community members, and other school districts in our area.

During the past two months, we have been working on planning out the space in the new building - How many classrooms? How many technology labs? How much physical fitness space? To get beyond the schematic design phase, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) will need to approve our use of space in the building according to guidelines it has established, taking into account our "district specific" educational program.

Our school will be built for 560 students, a number that was determined by the MSBA, based on its own formulas and town-supplied information. We have submitted an educational space plan that details how we use space in the existing building today and what we foresee being needed for new programs in the future. Working with the MSBA, we are in the process of finalizing the allowable space plan for the building that will adequately meet our needs and fit into the MSBA guidelines - not an easy task.
