Algonquin 9, Leominster 2

Senior third baseman Dave Teggart had a full season in one afternoon, slugging four home runs and knocking in seven runs for the visiting Tomahawks (2-2, 1-1 Mid-Wach A).

Sophomore Dan Solis also homered in Algonquin's 10-hit attack, while Kevin Brown had a single and triple.

Alex Henry homered and drove in two runs for the Blue Devils (0-3, 0-3), who were limited to two hits by Algonquin senior right-hander Neil Hasek.

Shrewsbury 16, North Middlesex 1

Senior left fielder Adam Ostrosky went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, delivering a two-run double and scoring twice in an eight-run third inning that carried the fifth-ranked Colonials (4-2, 2-2 Mid-Wach A) past the visiting Patriots.

Junior Edwin Shea was 2 for 3 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs, while senior co-captain Peter Grillo went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and three runs for Shrewsbury, which led, 14-0, after three innings. Senior starter Matt DiPilato got the win with five innings of two-hit, six-strikeout shutout ball.

Ryan Baldinelli had a double for North Middlesex.

St. Peter-Marian 2, St. Bernard's 1

Brendan Tivnan laid down a suicide squeeze bunt in the ninth inning to score Dan Conrad with the winning run for the visiting Guardians (6-1, 2-0 Central Mass. Conference).

Third-ranked SPM tied the game in the top of the seventh when Drew Griffin hit a pinch-hit double and scored on an error.

Jim Balboni went 2 for 3 with a double for the Bernardians (2-2, 0-1).

Uxbridge 9, Oxford 8

Senior catcher Matt Ryan tripled to deep left-center field in the seventh inning and scored on a wild pitch, giving the Spartans (5-0, 1-0 SWCL East) their road victory. Ryan Hippert went 2 for 4 with four RBIs, and Kyle Allaire was 2 for 3 and drove in two runs.

Alex Roycewicz and Nick Armando each had three hits for the Pirates.

Tantasqua 7, David Prouty 0

Sophomore right-hander Cory Lavallee hurled a two-hitter in his first varsity start, striking out nine and walking three as the Warriors (4-5) won their SWCL West opener in Spencer.

Sophomore Dan Kemp had three singles and senior Jonah Faucher added two RBIs. Pat Fahey and Justin Kresco had the singles for the Tigers (2-5, 0-1).

Sutton 11, St. Mary's 4

Josh Paulhus hit a three-run homer and a double for the Sammies (1-2) in Worcester. Tim Rafferty was 3 for 5, and Mike Thyden added a solo home run.

Adam Filewicz and Travis Vandale each had a single and double for the Eagles (0-2).

Maynard 10, Tahanto 1

Jason Tessari was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for the visiting Tigers (1-2, 1-1 Mid-Wach D). Sean Laughlen knocked in a pair of runs and Willy Penfield pitched a complete game.

Tom Brown doubled and scored for the 1-2 Stags.

Grafton 2, Auburn 0

All the scoring came in the fourth inning, when the Indians (4-1, 1-0) got an RBI single from Chris Weilandt and scored an unearned run on an error to begin play in the SWCL East with a win at Auburn (5-2, 0-1).
