The day after Christmas should be called "Brown Wednesday," Kyle Gibbons of Spencer joked.

He posted the thought online and he's hoping it catches on like Black Friday.

"(It's) the day when people take back all the (crappy) gifts they got yesterday," Mr. Gibbons wrote on his Facebook page.

And he might be right, though most folks returning gifts at the Auburn Mall yesterday weren't doing so because they didn't like them.

Many had the same complaint about their items: too small.

Debra Mott of Leicester was exchanging clothes she'd picked up for her 15-year-old son, Shawn.

The tall teen is apparently bigger than his mother thought. So they exchanged them for some larger sizes and he grabbed a new hat with the Miami Marlins' logo on it as they shopped with his friend Richard Garabedian.

Kristen Macaruso of Worcester was returning some "too small" items, as well.

"I bought them for my boyfriend and I'm returning them," she said, though she, her cousin Gina Bisceglia and friend Jessica Penny had other bags filled with deals they'd found.

Most shoppers said the return process was easy with short lines and no hassles.

Manithong Malakham of Leicester made more than a few exchanges, swapping out the small clothes she got for her 12-year-old nephew.

"I went to Aeropostale, Macy's and Sears," she said. "And all the returns I made went excellent. There were only one or two guests in front of me and no problems."

Paul Urevich of Sturbridge was dressed in Santa gear adorned with the New England Patriots' logo. He and his wife were buying up items suitable...
