Three local high students took a bow - and an award home - at the Theatre at the Mount 2012-13 TAMY Awards ceremony May 19 at Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner. The awards honor area high school musical theater productions, casts, crews, designers and directors, with 25 productions competing this season.

Honored were Marilyn Wilson of Leominster High School for Not-Your-Average-Chorus Member (female), Rory Young of Leominster High for Rising Star (male) and Sadie Kennedy for Rising Star (female).

Lydia Yohannes of Leominster and four other students from American International College in Springfield received an honorable mention award at the regional Enactus business conference held recently in New York. They also received an invitation to the national conference. Ms. Yohannes is a junior majoring in marketing.

Air Force Master Sgt. Scott D. Levesque has been named the 628th Air Base Wing Staff Noncomissioned Officer of the Year for 2012, and has been selected for promotion to senior master sergeant.

Master Sgt. Levesque is a plans and resources flight superintendent assigned to the 628th Air Base Wing at Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina. The master sergeant has served in the military for 18 years.

He is the son of Gloria Levesque and stepson of Maurice Levesque of Gardner.

Master Sgt. Levesque graduated in 1994 from Gardner High School and received an associate degree in science in 2011 from the Community College of the Air Force, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Ala.

Veteran Homestead in Fitchburg will host a "Tea for Vets" fundraiser from 2 to 4 p.m. June 13 at the Fay Club, 658 Main St., Fitchburg. In addition to traditional afternoon tea fare, the event will include raffles and a hat contest.

The Gardner AARP Installation Dinner will be held at noon June 11 at the Westminster Country Club. A musical program will be provided by Gary Landgren. Reservations may be made by calling (978) 632-7638.
