BOYS' HOCKEY

Algonquin 2, Hudson 1: Matt Torilli and Mike Horgan scored, and Andy Cobb made 33 saves as the Tomahawks (8-6-2) shocked the top-ranked Hawks (12-2-1) at New England Sports Center.

Horgan and Tom Lewis assisted on Torilli's goal at 13:36 of the first period, and Horgan gave Algonquin a 2-0 lead at 10:01 of the second.

Sean O'Keefe got Hudson on the board 1:10 later, scoring on the power play.

Auburn 2, Gardner 2: The Wildcats (5-7-3) salvaged a tie with two power-play goals in the third period at Horgan Rink.

Sophomore Justin Huard opened the scoring for Rockets (10-4-3) in the first period, and freshman Bobby Kravsey doubled their lead in the second.

Junior J.R. LaPointe scored to put Gardner on the board, then assisted on classmate Zack Koren's tying goal.

Grafton 7, Milford 1: Sean O'Rourke had two goals and an assist for the Indians (6-6-2) at the New England Sports Center.

Alex Boudreau scored for the Scarlet Hawks (1-15).

Nashoba 5, Groton-Dunstable 3: The Chieftains (4-8-2) broke from a 2-2 tie by scoring twice in the second period to defeat the Crusaders (10-7-1) at the Groton School.

Nashoba's Derek Hebst and Drew Roster each scored power-play goals in the first period.

Groton-Dunstable's Keith English tied the game with a power-play goal at the end of the first period

Wachusett 5, Marlboro 3: Steve Iacaboni scored a short-handed goal at 5:14 of the second period to give the third-ranked Mountaineers (9-4-2) a 4-2 lead, then tallied again at 9:01 of the third to give Wachusett a 5-3 lead after the fifth-ranked Panthers (7-6-2) had pulled within a goal at North Star Youth Forum

Worcester 4, Nipmuc 2: Senior captain Jim Hall slammed home the rebound of a shot from the point by senior Nick Herlihy at 6:36 of the third period, breaking a 2-2 tie and sending the Wildcats (5-9-2, 4-2-2 Russell Conference) over the Warriors (6-8-1, 5-5) at Buffone Rink.

Worcester Academy 6, Portsmouth Abbey 4: The host Hilltopppers trailed, 3-1, after the first period before scoring five consecutive goals.

Billy Lane had two goals for Worcester Academy, and Matt Kelly, Matt Mortimer, Anthony Bilotta and A.J. Germain added one each.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

Bancroft 60, Landmark 43: Senior forward Dave Mack had 18 points and 20 rebounds, leading the host Bulldogs (13-6, 8-4 Eastern Independent).
