WORCESTER - Bay State Savings Bank presented a $5,000 check to Cherylann Gengel and her mother, Kathy Dicicco, to benefit the BeLikeBrit Foundation during a reception at Mount Pleasant Country Club in Boylston.

The money was raised by through the bank's Champions for Children initiative during its March Dig for Cash event at Wachusett Mountain Ski Area in Princeton.

Each year, the bank selects one or two deserving organizations, whose mission specifically focuses on helping children, to benefit from Champions for Children.

The check will go toward building an orphanage in Haiti in memory of Britney Gengel, who died in the 2010 earthquake.
