BOYS' BASKETBALL

St. John's 87, Xaverian 55: Senior guard David White had 22 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists as the top-ranked Pioneers (16-2) cruised past Xaverian (7-9) in Shrewsbury.

Junior Richard Rodgers and senior Bennett Knowlton added 19 and 17 points, respectively. Senior center Chad LaBove anchored the defense, contributing 5 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Abby Kelley 55, Bethany Christian 49: Kenny Lisenby and Kofi Abankroh each sank two free throws in the final minute to enable the Bears (10-9 8-5 WCAC) to clinch their first Central Mass. Tournament berth in the program's six-year history.

Algonquin 75, Shepherd Hill 37: Senior forward Graham Turner had 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead a balanced offense as the Tomahawks (8-9) rolled in Northboro.

Senior Bob Reynolds (12 points), Kyle Whitney (10) and Brendan McGill (9) also had strong showings for the winners. The Rams are 9-10.

Bancroft 59, Rocky Hill 49: Dave Mack, Dalton Judd and Asher Plange combined to score 30 points in the first half for the visiting Bulldogs (15-6), who built a 39-21 halftime lead in East Greenwich, R.I.

Bromfield 66, Ayer 59: Jeff Yates, Luke Broganer and Tyler Shepherd combined to score 50 points and the visiting Trojans (4-12, 2-9) outscored the Panthers (3-15), 9-2, in overtime to pull out the win.

Yates led the way with 24 points and Broganer finished with 16 points, including a 3-pointer in overtime.

Sylvester Marshall scored 22 points, including a jump shot at the end of the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Burncoat 68, St. Peter-Marian 38: Kevin Mara led five Patriots (4-13) in double figures with 16 points. Tre Watson scored nine for the 5-11 Guardians.

Hopedale 78, North Brookfield 49: Freshman Ian Strom scored a career-high 34 points, going 5 for 9 from behind the 3-point line and 11 for 12 from the free-throw line, to lead the Blue Raiders (9-9, 4-7 DVC) past the visiting Indians (7-11, 2-9).

Maynard 77, Littleton 54: Mid-Wach D champion Maynard outscored visiting Mid-Wach C titlist Littleton, 23-6, in the third to break open a close game.

Senior guard Mike Fowler had 13 of his 29 points and 2 of his 4 3s in the third for the 19-0 Tigers, who finished undefeated in the regular season for the first time since 1989.

Millbury 74, Oxford 57: Ryan O'Leary hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 of his 35 points in the third quarter as the visiting Woolies (14-4, 11-4) seized control after trailing at the...
